90 Day Walking Bass Challenge 2022

I did this challenge from EBass Guitar as I thought that with my limited experience with Jazz, I needed a bit more challenge to play other types of songs.

The tutorials were on recorded videos with the accompamyment of PDF files. The tutorials were tailored for beginners to intermediate. You had 2 weeks to practice then post on Facebook for comments from coach and other students. We had a live session with our coach if we had any questions. That was quite useful and educational.

Module 5- Fly Me To The Moon

I actually played this in my After 3 Jazz performance, but it was really helpful to see a tutorial on this.

Module 6- Bobby-Hebb-Sunny

Oh, a bit of jazz... it felt like I 'was coming home' :)

Module 3- Moondance

This was quite a challenge I must admit. With the backing track provided, I was getting lost in the different sections.. and it's a long song! The original song was much easier to play to.

Some comments from fellow students:
"T’riffic, Natalie! Particularly liked the lines in the verses, and played with feel. "

"I love some of the notes combination you used, and the rhythm changes you did at the beginning of the song. 👌"

Module 4- Route 66

This video is the whole song -- bassline that was provided by James-- I only did verse 1, then down to the basics (in what James taught, and got caught off guard with the turnaround, but voila.. this is only a practice video, and not meant to be performed live :)

Module 1- The Blues Brothers -
                                Sweet Home Chicago

I posted this video on the EBassGuitar FB page I did the 2020 Blues Challenge and some of the people knew me from that time where I was only 4 months into playing bass.

NICE! ... there is definitely and markedly observable improvement in your playing since you last contributed! Applause from my corner!

I love the fact that you smile through what you perceive to be a a mis-note or timing issue...it actually isn't...you are just creating your own space and that's what makes a pro. I thought it sounded great and in reality..YOU will hear your "mistakes" a lot more than the listener will. I totally enjoyed your video and look forward to more. Plus, you have a very nice smile! Good luck and all the best to you and your amigo!

It’s been awhile, Natalie, from your last video I saw over here and a great improvement is obvious, especially in elegant walking fingers of the plucking hand. Your vebal explanations are epic

Keep up your good work and the joyful approach!

Hi Natalie. Well done. It's a bit more tricky than it seems at first glance. So, well done on your submission. You covered the fretboard very well and played in numerous positions. Well done again. As I said, not as easy as you think and you played it very well.

I have been so busy and really only had one day to practice. Now I'm travelling and although I may be able to get access to a bass tomorrow, my attempt won't be anything like as comprehensive or as well executed as yours.

Natalie it is so awesome how well your doing since I first saw you! You are so funny and a joy to watch! Keep up the good work and great sense of humor!

Good on you Natalie, all over the neck. And my goodness where did you get the video editing from?

Nicely played, Natalie!! You’ve made HUGE improvements since the last video I saw that must have been a year or two ago. Well done!!

You’ve come a long way since we first heard you on bass. Just keep listening and playing. I almost always have a blues station streaming in the background. If I hear something that really catches my attention, I grab the name of the song and have a more detailed listen. There’s usually something you can steal.

Module 2- Crazy Little Thing Called Love

Biggest challenges were: to play the entire song perfectly, and to get the tempo correct in the bridge.

Loved playing this song!
